As the Founder and CEO of Marinoz, he has fused cutting-edge technology with an enduring passion for the sea—creating a platform that’s redefining marine tourism on a global scale. With operations spanning Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and beyond, Elrefaei is at the helm of a new era in yachting and luxury sea experiences.
In this exclusive Luxe Gulf Visionaries interview, he shares his journey, leadership philosophy, and bold vision for the future of the blue economy.
From Circuits to the Sea
You began your career in electronics and communication engineering before launching Marinoz. What inspired the shift into luxury marine tourism, and how has your technical background shaped your leadership today?
I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of technology and human experience. My career began in electronics and communication engineering, where systems thinking, innovation, and precision defined how I approached the world. But the sea has always held a deeper pull—a space of freedom, elegance, and boundless possibility.
The move into marine tourism wasn’t a leap, it was an evolution. I saw how fragmented the yacht and marine tourism industry was and recognized the opportunity to bridge that gap through digital innovation. For me, it wasn’t just about launching a platform—it was about building a seamless, global luxury ecosystem.
My engineering foundation has been invaluable. It enables me to design scalable solutions, anticipate challenges, and keep Marinoz at the forefront of innovation. In truth, I never left engineering—I simply redirected it toward something profoundly personal and visionary.
Defining Luxury Afloat
What transforms a yachting journey from memorable to truly extraordinary—and how is Marinoz setting new standards in the space?
A truly extraordinary yachting experience is one where every detail feels effortless yet unforgettable—from the moment a guest dreams of the voyage to the memories they cherish long after it ends. It’s not just about opulence—it’s about emotional resonance, personalization, and a sense of discovery that goes beyond the expected.
At Marinoz, we go far beyond the vessel. We curate immersive experiences: private chefs crafting menus inspired by the destination, bespoke entertainment aligned with the guest’s mood, access to hidden anchorages only locals know, and concierge services that anticipate needs before they arise.
Luxury isn’t just what you see—it’s what you feel. And our goal is to ensure every voyage becomes a story worth telling.
Riding the Digital Wave
With expertise in AI, cloud computing, and digital transformation, how do you see technology reshaping marine tourism in the coming decade?
Technology is no longer an accessory to tourism—it’s the engine driving it forward. AI enables us to personalize itineraries in real time, anticipate guest preferences, and enhance safety. Cloud computing integrates fleets, partners, and destinations into one intelligent platform—creating transparency, efficiency, and trust.
Looking ahead, we’ll see immersive AR/VR previews of charters, blockchain-secured bookings, predictive yacht maintenance powered by AI, and green tech for energy and fuel optimization.
At Marinoz, this isn’t theoretical—it’s our roadmap. We’re building a platform where luxury and innovation don’t just coexist—they elevate each other
Expanding the Horizon
From Egypt to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman—each market is distinct. What has guided your approach to regional expansion?
Every market has its own rhythm. Egypt offers cultural richness and untapped potential. The UAE demands cutting-edge luxury and global visibility. Saudi Arabia is defined by its visionary tourism transformation. Oman presents raw natural beauty and a growing appetite for bespoke experiences.
My compass has always been threefold: deeply understand local culture, uphold uncompromising service standards, and use technology to scale without losing the personal touch.
For us, expansion isn’t about planting flags—it’s about becoming part of a destination’s story.
Leadership Without Borders
Your career spans government, telecom, IT, and now marine tourism. What leadership values have carried you through such diverse sectors?
Across every industry I’ve worked in, the fundamentals of leadership have remained constant: clarity of vision, empathy in execution, and resilience in the face of change.
I believe in leading from both the bridge and the engine room—setting the course while staying connected to day-to-day realities. Building Marinoz into a global brand has demanded adaptability, trust in my team, and the courage to make decisions that sometimes go against the tide.
Leadership, to me, is not measured by titles or accolades—but by how many people grow with you on the journey.
Sailing Toward Sustainability
As the blue economy evolves, how is Marinoz contributing to a more sustainable and responsible future for luxury marine travel?
The future of the blue economy depends on how responsibly we navigate today. At Marinoz, we view sustainability as both a responsibility and an opportunity.
We’re already taking action—working with yacht owners to implement fuel-efficient routes, partnering with eco-conscious suppliers, and promoting itineraries that protect rather than overwhelm marine environments. We believe luxury travel can be a force for good: educating guests, uplifting coastal communities, and investing in sustainable innovation.
One of our most exciting initiatives is an upcoming Red Sea clean-up campaign, in partnership with local stakeholders and international diving organizations. The goal is simple: remove plastic waste and protect marine biodiversity.
Soon, our platform will also display the environmental impact of each charter, empowering guests to make lower-carbon choices—without compromising on the luxury they expect.
