Sunreef Yachts has once again pushed the boundaries of luxury and innovation with their new 40M Explorer Eco model. This radical yacht is designed to take its owners far off the beaten track, combining state-of-the-art technology with eco-friendly features to offer a truly unique cruising experience.
The 40M Explorer Eco is built with Sunreef’s proprietary ultralight composite materials and features a state-of-the-art electric powertrain, enabling it to cross oceans efficiently. Its slimmer hull design requires significantly less energy to propel through the water, enhancing both speed and fuel efficiency.
Another standout feature of this yacht is its solar skin, which covers every external surface of the hull and superstructure. This revolutionary solar technology generates enough power to run all onboard systems, including air conditioning, ice makers, a jacuzzi, and advanced audiovisual equipment.
A true game-changer in yacht design, the 40M Explorer Eco boasts a massive bathing platform aft that transforms into a versatile beach club. This area can be configured for lounging, watersports, or diving, with fold-down wings that expand the platform around the boat. The main deck houses four spacious and bright guest cabins, while the upper deck is dedicated to the owner’s suite, offering a secluded and serene retreat with a private terrace.
The yacht’s innovative bow design slices through waves, reducing pitching and the energy needed to propel the vessel, ensuring a smoother and more comfortable guest experience. Alongside the twin 540kW motors and a cruising speed of 10 knots, these features underscore the yacht’s transatlantic capabilities. The 40M Sunreef Explorer Eco can comfortably accommodate 10 guests, supported by a crew of seven.
Renowned explorer and Sunreef ambassador Mike Horn has significantly influenced the design of this new yacht through his collaboration with the brand. Sunreef Yachts’ CEO, Francis Lapp, joined Horn in Greenland for his “What’s Left” sailing expedition, which further inspired the development of the 40M Explorer Eco.
“Exploring Greenland under sail with Mike has served as a profound source of motivation for me to continue to act for a sustainable future within the yachting industry,” Lapp remarked.
With its blend of luxury, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology, the 40M Sunreef Explorer Eco represents the future of yachting — offering an unparalleled experience for eco-conscious adventurers and luxury seekers alike.
