Dubai’s skyline is a canvas of innovation and grandeur, and few have painted it with such finesse as Yahya Jan. As President and Design Director of NORR, Jan has masterminded some of the city’s most iconic structures, including the Atlantis and Shangri-La Hotels. Since arriving in Dubai in 1996, Jan’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.
A native of Karachi, Jan’s path to Dubai was paved with academic excellence and a passion for architecture. With degrees from Princeton and a decade of experience in the US, he embraced the challenge of designing the Emirates Towers, marking his entry into Dubai’s architectural elite.
Now, at 61, Jan is on the cusp of unveiling his most ambitious project yet: Ciel Dubai Marina.
Rising 1,200 feet into the sky, Ciel Dubai Marina is poised to be the world’s tallest hotel. Set to complete by the end of 2024, this architectural marvel is a testament to Jan’s ability to blend creativity with engineering prowess. Despite the tight constraints of its triangular plot, Jan’s design promises a spectacular experience with a glass observation deck, rooftop pool, and energy-efficient features.
Jan’s philosophy is simple yet profound: “Great design, done right, can solve many of humanity’s problems.”
His approach to Ciel Dubai Marina embodies this belief, merging art and science into a seamless experience. As he continues to push boundaries, Jan’s legacy in Dubai’s skyline remains a beacon of innovation and excellence.
