Following an extensive renovation, the Dubai outpost has emerged as a haven of intriguing sophistication, meticulously designed by the label’s creative director, Matthieu Blazy.
The space is an ode to luxury delivered with discretion. Warm Italian walnut adorns shelves, display units, and planters, creating a sense of warmth. This is beautifully contrasted by the distinctive green hue of Verde Saint Denis marble, a rare find from Italy’s Aosta Valley, gracing the walls. The concrete tiles covering the facade and floor, inspired by Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa, add a subtle nod to Bottega Veneta’s Venetian heritage.
Softness is introduced through plush wool carpets and woven leather seating in black, green, and brown tones, echoing the brand’s renowned expertise in leather craft. Scattered throughout the space are unique design elements, including the main entrance door handle – a playful nod to the signature, curved handle of the Sardine bag, a popular creation by Blazy.
The revamped store boasts an upgraded personalization service. Customers can explore leather swatches to customize bags – from color and material to the addition of initials. For ultimate privacy, a hidden section towards the back features a rotating marble door. This exclusive area caters to discerning clientele, showcasing 15 unique Knot bags from the archives alongside a curated selection of Bottega Veneta jewelry.
To mark the opening, the store features pre-fall collection pieces by Blazy, alongside candles from the brand’s new home collection. A special highlight is the exclusive selection of Sardine bags crafted in exotic skins. Three boast ceramic handles, while six come in dramatic colors like cold teal, blue spruce, and emerald green.
Bartolomeo Rongone, CEO of Bottega Veneta, spoke exclusively to The National’s Luxury magazine, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome our clients to this new, intimate, and elevated environment. Every design element showcases our deep connection to Italian materials and craft.”
“The design, in line with other stores opened under Matthieu Blazy, blends traditional materials with a modernist aesthetic, honoring Bottega Veneta’s dedication to innovative craftsmanship. The store will cater specifically to our most discerning clientele, offering exceptional experiences like private salons by appointment, unique made-to-order and exotic collections, and high-end exclusives tailored for our Middle Eastern customers.”
