This head-turning crossover boasts a design language crafted by Stefan Sielaff, formerly of BMW. Standout features include the unique double-edged daytime running lights and a sculpted body that surpasses BMW’s own flame surfacing design. The rear echoes the BMW iX with its edge-to-edge taillights, but adds a chic touch with illuminated 3D “ZEEKR” lettering. Black accents like the floating roof and wheel arches, along with stylish 20-inch wheels, elevate the X’s presence beyond its price tag.
The minimalist interior, inspired by Tesla but taken to new heights, offers “quiet luxury.” Dual-tone blue and beige upholstery covers every surface in a soft embrace. A square steering wheel with toggle controls, a massive 14.6-inch infotainment screen, and bronze accents throughout create a sophisticated feel. Even the door panels boast laser-cut perforated artwork, while an ambient lighting system grooves to the music. Practical touches include a 50-watt wireless charging pad, a pop-out bag hook, and a removable central cubby. While spacious in the front, the rear is best for two adults and a child. The cargo space is decent, but the frunk can only fit a handbag.
Technology is where the X truly shines. The Snapdragon processor ensures a snappy infotainment system, while the massive 24.3-inch head-up display with vivid animations boasts a remarkable 12,000-nit brightness level. A unique feature is the ability to record trips via an outward-facing camera. However, a cabin-facing camera might raise privacy concerns, and Bluetooth connectivity issues were encountered during testing.
On the road, the X is a blast. The 66-kWh battery and dual motors propel the X from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 3.8 seconds, but the silent powertrain and smooth delivery mask the car’s athleticism. While the 440 km claimed range fell short in real-world testing (reaching around 350 km), charging from 10 to 80 percent takes just 30 minutes.
The Zeekr X is more than just an EV; it’s a glimpse into the future. It offers exceptional technology, comfort, and design at a competitive price, marking a potential shift in dominance towards China’s EV industry.
