COUPE by Minotti

Brown is re-emerging as one of the defining tones of contemporary interiors. Once associated with the nostalgic interiors of the 1970s, the colour is now being reinterpreted through a more refined lens, introducing depth and material richness to modern living spaces. After several years dominated by pale neutrals and cool greys, designers are increasingly introducing a spectrum of warm brown tones – from deeper shades such as espresso and cocoa to softer hues including caramel, tan and walnut – bringing greater character and contrast to current interior palettes.

Used thoughtfully, brown acts as a versatile neutral within contemporary spaces, adding structure while softening lighter schemes. Layering deeper chocolate tones with caramel or tan shades introduces subtle depth, while softer tones such as off-white or cream keep the composition light and balanced. Accents in bronze or brushed metals, alongside rich woods and textured fabrics, further enhance the layered quality of the palette.

Reflecting this shift, Minotti explores these richer tones across its latest collections. At the Minotti Dubai flagship store in Jumeirah, sculptural seating and refined finishes illustrate how brown tones can shape contemporary interiors.

BEZIER white by Minotti

Sculptural Foundations: Bézier seating system and coffee table

Statement seating is one of the most effective ways to introduce brown into a space. The Bézier seating system by Marcio Kogan / Studio MK27 embodies this approach through its fluid, organic silhouette and generous proportions. Inspired by the parametric curves developed by French engineer Pierre Bézier, the sofa’s rounded volumes create a sculptural presence that feels both architectural and inviting.
Upholstered in warm tones, the design anchors the living area while maintaining visual softness. Its modular configuration expands into island-like compositions that encourage relaxed gathering and conversation. Paired with the Bézier coffee table, featuring a Canaletto walnut top in light brown veneer, the composition highlights how brown can extend through both upholstery and natural materials.

Layered Upholstery: Coupé and Libra

Brown tones are equally effective when introduced through seating arrangements. The Coupé seating system by Giampiero Tagliaferri reinterprets the aesthetic language of 1960s and 1970s interiors through a contemporary lens. Its overlapping rounded volumes and tone-on-tone stitching emphasise softness and craftsmanship while maintaining the understated elegance characteristic of Minotti.

Also designed by Giampiero Tagliaferri, the Libra armchair introduces a sculptural accent. Inspired by seventies aesthetics, the design is composed of overlapping padded volumes upholstered in leather or fabric, creating a balanced interplay between seat, backrest and headrest.

Architectural Balance: Riley seating system, Andrée and Stage coffee tables

Where softer silhouettes introduce warmth, more architectural pieces bring structure and contrast. The Riley seating system by Hannes Peer reflects this balance through its geometric form and precise detailing, with vertical quilting adding rhythm to the upholstery.

Alongside the seating, the Andrée coffee table, also designed by Hannes Peer, introduces a decorative counterpoint. Inspired by the facades of 1970s Milanese architecture, the design pairs glazed ceramic surfaces with chrome-plated brass trims, adding texture and reflective depth.

The Stage side table further extends the palette through wood and metal finishes, with tops available in Canaletto walnut-stained light brown or glossy Moka lacquer.

A Contemporary Neutral

Far from being a passing trend, brown’s return reflects a broader shift toward interiors that prioritise depth, materiality and balance. When layered thoughtfully through furniture, finishes and textures, the colour introduces a quiet sophistication that feels both timeless and relevant today.

The post Yla: The Dubai Furniture Atelier Shaping a New Era of Homegrown Design appeared first on Luxe Gulf Magazine.

As the UAE’s creative economy continues to expand, a new generation of homegrown design brands is emerging, led by founders shaping the region’s creative identity while navigating an increasingly complex global landscape.

One such example is Yla, a Dubai-founded furniture atelier created by engineer and long-time UAE resident Benoît Rondard, who has lived in the country for more than 25 years. Alongside his role as Founder of Yla, Rondard is also General Manager at Eurotech in Jebel Ali, a metalwork company that anchors the brand’s local production capabilities.

For Rondard, building a design brand in the UAE is not only a business venture but a reflection of the country’s growing creative ecosystem.

“Building Yla from Dubai is both a responsibility and an opportunity,” he says. “The UAE has created an environment where entrepreneurship, design, and industry meet in a very direct way. Being a homegrown brand means contributing to that ecosystem while demonstrating that high-quality design can emerge from this region.”

Launched in Summer 2025, Yla explores a material not traditionally associated with domestic interiors: metal. Its debut Audace Collection, developed with French designer Remi Damilleville, reimagines stainless steel and aluminium through sculptural seating, tables, and bookcases designed to bring softness and emotion to industrial materials.

Produced locally in Jebel Ali, the collection reflects a model that keeps design, engineering, and manufacturing closely connected – something Rondard believes is increasingly important as companies rethink supply chains and production strategies.

“Yla was conceived and developed in Dubai, and our pieces are produced locally in Jebel Ali using stainless steel and aluminium. This proximity between design, engineering, and production allows us to experiment, refine, and maintain a very high level of craftsmanship. At the same time, it reflects the spirit of the UAE itself: ambitious, international, and open to new ideas.

We are grateful to build the brand here because the country genuinely supports new initiatives and creative industries. It gives founders the possibility to transform an idea into a tangible project.”

In an increasingly unpredictable geopolitical environment, Rondard believes resilience for creative businesses lies in focus, adaptability, and community.

“Our approach is simple: we stay committed to our work while continuing to support the ecosystem around us. Our team continues to build, collaborate with architects and designers, and welcome visitors who want to engage with the brand.”

For founders building global brands, Dubai offers a rare combination of infrastructure, connectivity, and international energy.

“Few cities in the world allow a founder to design, produce, and present a brand to a global audience from the same place. The city is also incredibly international. Designers, architects, investors, and entrepreneurs from many countries operate here, which creates a dynamic environment for collaboration and exchange of ideas.”

For a brand like Yla, this environment is particularly valuable.

“We design pieces inspired by nature and contemporary living, but we present them to a global community of architects, designers, and hospitality professionals who reside in or pass through Dubai every day.”

Looking ahead, Rondard believes homegrown brands will play a defining role in shaping the Middle East’s creative future.

“As the region continues to invest in culture, design, and architecture, locally developed brands can bring perspectives rooted in this region while remaining globally relevant. The next decade will see more brands emerging with the confidence to compete internationally.”

For Yla, that journey continues with seasonal evolutions of the Audace Collection and additional nature-inspired colourways planned for Spring 2026.

“Design should evolve,” Rondard adds. “It grows, it breathes, and it transforms.”

DAMAC Properties, the largest private real estate developer in the UAE and the Middle East, has announced that its “Buy a Home, Get a Luxury Car” campaign will now be extended to all UAE residents. Marking the spirit of Eid and aligned with the UAE’s Year of Family, the limited-time campaign reflects the ethos expressed by the UAE’s leadership that every resident who contributes to the nation’s progress is a part of its story.

By extending the offer, DAMAC aims to celebrate the shared commitment of citizens and residents alike in building vibrant communities across the country. Janu Residences Dubai DIFC

In the ever-evolving skyline of Dubai International Financial Centre, where global commerce converges with culture and contemporary art, a new chapter in branded living unfolds. Janu Residences, Dubai marks the Middle East debut of Janu, the soulful sister brand of Aman Group—introducing a vibrant, socially driven expression of luxury to the region’s most dynamic district.

Derived from the Sanskrit word for “soul,” Janu reimagines hospitality through connection, creativity and energy. Following the acclaimed launch of Janu Tokyo in 2024, Dubai becomes the brand’s first residential address in the Middle East—an architectural and lifestyle statement that signals a bold new rhythm of urban living.

Architecture as Identity

Designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architects Herzog & de Meuron, the tower introduces a sculptural, mineral-inspired form to Dubai’s polished skyline. It is the firm’s first project of its kind in the Middle East—an expressive structure that balances monumental presence with a distinctly human scale.

Rising from a reenvisioned souk courtyard and anchored by an 18-metre-high lobby, the development comprises:

  • A 150-key Janu hotel (levels 6–16)
  • The world’s first global Janu Club, an invitation-only social members’ space
  • A limited collection of 57 branded residences, spanning two to five bedrooms
  • An exceptional penthouse crowning the tower

Expansive terraces, generous balconies and abundant greenery soften the verticality of the building—an uncommon gesture in high-rise UAE living—while overlooking Zabeel Palace Gardens, the Burj Khalifa and the ever-evolving DIFC skyline.

Janu Dubai Residences - UAE Interior

Elevated, Private, Connected

Discretion defines the arrival experience. A separate entrance lobby and private lifts convey residents directly to their homes, ensuring privacy within one of Dubai’s most high-profile districts.

The entire 34th floor is dedicated exclusively to owners—a private sanctuary above the city featuring:

  • A panoramic infinity-edge pool
  • Residents-only Lounge & Bar
  • Sweeping skyline views

Yet Janu’s philosophy is not isolation—it is curated connection. Residents enjoy seamless access to hotel amenities, including destination restaurants, a mixology bar, outdoor terraces, and a state-of-the-art wellness centre designed around movement, vitality and shared experience. At the heart of the offering is the Janu Private Office, delivering bespoke travel, curated Aman and Janu journeys, private events and 24-hour concierge services—extending ownership far beyond the residence itself.

A Developer with Vision

Janu Dubai is developed by H&H Development, renowned for introducing world-class hospitality brands to the Emirates. Occupying an entire tower within DIFC, the project reflects H&H’s commitment to curated, design-led developments that leave a discreet yet undeniable mark on the city.

The Janu Way of Life

More than a residence, Janu Dubai represents access—to community, to culture, to a global lifestyle ecosystem. Future Janu destinations have already been confirmed for Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Turks and Caicos, reinforcing the brand’s expanding international footprint.

In a city defined by ambition and reinvention, Janu Residences, Dubai offers something rarer: a soulful counterpoint to scale. A place where architecture fosters connection, wellness becomes ritual, and luxury is measured not only in finishes—but in feeling.

For the global citizen seeking both privacy and participation, this is a new cadence of contemporary living—alive to Dubai’s rhythm, yet distinctly its own.

DAMAC Accelerates Onto the Global Stage with Oracle Red Bull Racing

In a move that fuses high-octane performance with architectural ambition, DAMAC Properties has announced a long-term global partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing — one of the most dominant forces in modern Formula 1.

The alliance unites two brands driven by precision, innovation, and an uncompromising pursuit of excellence. Currently competing at the pinnacle of motorsport, Oracle Red Bull Racing is spearheaded by four-time World Champion Max Verstappen, alongside rising talent Isack Hadjar — a line-up symbolic of both legacy and future ambition.

As part of the collaboration, DAMAC’s branding will feature prominently on the team’s RB22 car — including the halo and side pods — as well as on team principal and driver kits, helmets, and race suits. The visibility underscores the scale of the partnership and positions DAMAC at the heart of one of the world’s most-watched sporting platforms.

A Strategic Power Move

For DAMAC, this marks another milestone in a portfolio of global alliances that blend lifestyle, sport, and culture. The developer has previously partnered with iconic names such as Roberto Cavalli, Paramount, and Chelsea Football Club — consistently redefining how real estate intersects with global influence.

Speaking on the partnership, Amira Sajwani, Managing Director of Sales & Development at DAMAC, emphasised the synergy between the two brands, noting that Formula 1’s ethos of elite performance and innovation aligns seamlessly with DAMAC’s brand DNA.

Ali Sajwani, Managing Director of Operations, Finance & Hospitality, echoed the sentiment, highlighting Formula 1’s immense global reach and cultural relevance.

On the racing side, Laurent Mekies, CEO and Team Principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, described the collaboration as a natural fit — bringing together two organisations that challenge limits and consistently perform at the highest level.

Motorsport Meets Real Estate Vision

The announcement follows DAMAC’s recent partnership with Chelsea Football Club, unveiled in April 2025, which saw the developer become the club’s front-of-jersey sponsor and introduce Chelsea Residences by DAMAC — the world’s first football-branded residential development in Dubai.

With Formula 1’s worldwide audience spanning hundreds of millions, this latest alliance signals DAMAC’s continued strategy of aligning with global icons that embody excellence and long-term vision.

In luxury real estate, true refinement lies not in grandeur but in precision — in the way a shoreline is preserved, a view is framed, or a promenade is aligned with the horizon. This philosophy, “The Art of Detail,” has long defined Sobha Realty. Now, with its pioneering Backward Integration model — where every stage of design and development is controlled in-house — Sobha is bringing its ethos to Umm Al Quwain, the UAE’s most tranquil and unspoiled emirate.

Sobha Siniya Island — Nature as Neighbour

A 23-million-square-foot sanctuary connected to the mainland by a single bridge, Sobha Siniya Island is designed as a rare balance of modernity and preservation. Nearly 60% of the island will remain untouched, ensuring mangroves flourish and native gazelles roam freely through wildlife corridors.

At its heart, the Yachtside Marina Residences introduce a life anchored by water — complete with a yacht club, a vibrant promenade, and panoramic views of a natural seawater marina. Complemented by five-star resorts and an 18-hole championship golf course, this enclave is Sobha’s answer to the rising demand for an authentic yet refined coastal lifestyle.

Downtown UAQ — A Coastal Skyline of the Future

Stretching across 24 million square feet and embracing 11 kilometers of pristine shoreline, Downtown UAQ | Sobha Realty reimagines coastal living with balance at its core. Here, the city does not overwhelm — it breathes. Pedestrian promenades, cycling trails, and a seven-kilometer beach park create an atmosphere of effortless leisure, while curated retail avenues, art galleries, and wellness spaces infuse vibrancy and culture into the coastal rhythm.

Three distinctive districts define the masterplan, each offering seamless connections between home, leisure, and lifestyle. From boutique shopping and waterfront cafés to cultural landmarks and open community hubs, every element is curated to elevate everyday living.

A PLAYFUL TURN TOWARD COLOUR

Designed to ignite the imagination, this new range brings chromatic joy to any outdoor setting. Picture matcha green oversized daybedscobalt blue modular lounges, and rosé-hued accent chairs with tailored piping—each one an expression of personality and purpose. Coordinating cushions, sculptural side tables, and ambient accessories complete the look, offering a curated aesthetic that’s anything but an afterthought.

It’s a departure from the typical. Our aim was to bring the same emotion and elegance found indoors to the outdoors,” shares Cristina Rugo, Greycaine’s visionary Creative Director.

Crafted with resilient, weatherproof materials, each piece is built to withstand sun, salt, sand, and sudden rain—without compromising on beauty or comfort. In fact, you’ll find the same plush depth, ergonomic structure, and artisanal detailing that define Greycaine’s indoor icons.

OUTDOOR SPACES, REIMAGINED

As the line between interior and exterior fades, design-forward homeowners are rethinking how outdoor areas serve their lifestyles. Greycaine encourages a shift: from “seasonal afterthought” to “intentional living.” These new pieces inspire us to treat balconies, courtyards, and poolside patios as rooms in their own right.

Where fine porcelain meets the fantasy of cut crystal, Idyllia is born.

In a dazzling collaboration that redefines tabletop elegance, Tanagra proudly unveils the new Swarovski x Rosenthal Idyllia Collection—a celebration of nature’s most whimsical wonders, masterfully translated into porcelain and crystal.

This exclusive series invites you into a dreamlike garden, where birds sing in refracted light and blossoms shimmer with otherworldly brilliance. Drawing on the magic of flora and fauna, the collection transforms five of Swarovski’s iconic crystal figurines into tableware designs that are at once bold, ethereal, and impossibly refined.

At the heart of Idyllia is a new porcelain printing technique—developed exclusively for this collaboration—that captures the iridescent beauty of crystal with painterly precision. The result? Tableware that doesn’t just serve—it tells a story.

Available now at Tanagra boutiques and online, each piece is an invitation to reimagine everyday rituals through a prism of fantasy and craftsmanship.

THE ICONS OF IDYLLIA

A timeless emblem of purity, the lily is rendered in full bloom with 633 facets of radiant crystal. Hints of pink and yellow dance across delicate petals, while lacquered green metal forms the elegant stem. A sculptural tribute to grace.

Idyllia Cockatoo
A playful companion brought to life in crystal. Featuring 635 intricately cut facets, this cockatoo radiates personality, with a colour-gradient crown and expressive stance that adds joy to any setting.

Idyllia Gouldian Finch
